The Christmas season is another opportunity, another chance to remind ourselves that the promised King came. It’s a chance to consider God’s words, “would you build me a house?”
God builds His Kingdom. God builds His church. God is the conductor that directs the worship symphony of Himself. The need to consider these things goes far beyond the Christmas season. It’s a matter of having a right relationship with God, truly seeing Him in His holiness, in His rightful place as Lord of all. But as you write your Christmas wish list, consider more than what you want. We must not neglect the constant need to get on our knees in prayer and dig in to God’s word and look closely around us in asking God what He wants. Father, what is your will? What do you want for me? What would you have me do in service of your name? What plans do you have for me that I have ignored or rejected? We ask for health. We ask for wealth and security. We ask for ease. We can ask for those things. But we must never stop asking what God would ask of us.
